He’s played a real-life champ in Ali, and various forms of action-men fighting aliens, robots and post-apocalyptic vampires.

But Will Smith still doesn’t have a sword-and-sandals epic to his credit like Brad Pitt (Troy) and Colin Farrell (Alexander).

Enter Taharqa, the last Pharaoh of the 25th or Nubian Dynasty (the one in which blacks of Ethiopian descent ran Egypt).

Carl Franklin (Devil In A Blue Dress) has already banged out a script called The Last Pharaoh, full of Ethiopians battling Assyrians for the throne of Amun-Ra. Now it’s being polished by Chris Hauty (Never Back Down), so look for some mixed martial arts to excite the masses.

Will Smith says he’s not a scientologist

Will Smith has hit back at claims he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, have been recruited by the Church of Scientology.

Recent reports claimed the couple had started following the controversial faith, on the advice of close pals Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

But Smith insists he chooses to study religions, without subscribing to any one.

He said to the New York Daily News, “You don’t have to be Jewish to be a friend of Steven Spielberg. You don’t have to be a Muslim to be a friend of Muhammad Ali. And you don’t have to be a Scientologist to be a friend of Tom Cruise. I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions. And I respect all people and all paths.”

Will Smith has been named as the host of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday bash in London’s Hyde Park.

The concert to honour the former South African president, set down for June 27, will feature performances by Razorlight, Keane, British veterans Queen and Annie Lennox, as well as thereunited Spice Girls.

Alternate I Am Legend Ending Leaks; Sheds Light on Vampyric Society

Francis Lawrence’s post-apocalyptic thriller starring Will Smith as a scientist turned vampire killer isolated in a nightmarish metropolis after a worldwide epidemic, left many (myself included) stupefied with the myriad of loopholes and unexplained phenomena.

Good news: I Am Legend’s DVD release, slated to hit shelves March 18, may redeem the film’s shortcomings thanks to an alternate ending.

Luckily, we won’t have to wait that long — the extra ending (embedded right) has surfaced on YouTube.

Will and Jada Smith to adapt a child from China

ANOTHER adoption is on the way and this time it’s Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith who are having the option in their mind. The celebrity couple, according to source, are considering adopting a child from China. Will and Jada are “exploring” the idea of adopting a child from China. “Will and Jada are among a number of Hollywood couples looking into adopting in China,” the broker was quoted as saying.

Despite the pair intention to adopt, the source claimed that “(Adopting a child) is a long process, and from what I understand, not much has been done on their behalf.” No words just yet from Will and Jada about the adoption speculation.

Is Will Smith really a Scientologist now?

The Fresh Prince who won a Grammy award for the song Summertime is now an avid supporter of the Church of Scientology, a controversial mainstream religion (a cult, some says) in America started by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.

Smith apparently disclosed to the public that he studied the teachings of the Church with his friend and Scientology booster, Tom Cruise. He has drawn interest to the quasi-teachings of Scientology, along with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, as the couple has donated $20,000 to Scientology’s literacy program called HELP.

Some people were unsatisfied with I Am Legend and wanted more. Rumors about a sequel is going on and Warner Bros. have interest for a second film. There’s no announced casts yet but it might be that Will Smith will no longer be on the sequel, who knows. Would you want a sequel for I Am Legend? What if Will Smith is not there, would you still watch it? What do you think?

Will Smith, who starred in “I Am Legend,” finished second in the voting followed by George Clooney (”Michael Clayton” and “Ocean’s Thirteen”) and Matt Damon (”The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Ocean’s Thirteen.”) Clooney has been in the poll five times to date. Somewhat surprisingly, this year is Matt Damon’s first Top Ten mention. Denzel Washington (”The Great Debaters” and “American Gangster”) was fifth and Russell Crowe (”American Gangster” and “3:10 to Yuma”) was sixth.
